Google and Android TV users are complaining that they cannot quickly connect their Bluetooth devices to their televisions. At CES 2024, Google finally announced that Fast Pair technology will be coming to Google TV products next month.
Google TV devices get Fast Pair technology
Nearly all Android TV and Google TV devices support the ability to stream audio to Bluetooth headphones, but pairing processes vary depending on your device. For example, on TCL brand televisions, the “automatic” switching for sound does not change when Bluetooth headphones are paired, so it is necessary to enter the settings tab to use different headphones on the device.
Built into Quick Settings on Google TV, this new voice switcher will allow users to switch between Bluetooth headphones and TV speakers without going into the Settings menu or even completely stopping the content they’re watching. We should point out that accessing the demo shown at CES 2024 is quick and easy.
Google’s demo was on the TCL QM8 but the same is expected to be rolled out to other TV brands in the future. It is also estimated that this technology will be available through updates to existing Google TV sets.
TCL has already confirmed that this feature will be supported on the Google TV series. However, Google did not directly announce in an earlier briefing that this feature will be widely supported on all Android TV operating system devices.
What do you think about the new feature? Do you actively use Fast Pair technology? You can share your ideas with us in the comments section.
